Desert oasis

I have a thing for the Sahara Desert - the constant changing light and sand colour, the endless vistas, the date palm oasis and that feeling of peace and tranquility of being so far removed from civilisation.

I came across the beautiful lodge Al Tarfa Desert Sanctuary recently, located in the remote Dakhla Oasis in western Egypt, and decided it must go on the 'must visit one day' list.

The lodge interiors are a mesmerizing mix of typical Saharan mud architecture and modern yet classic furnishings - simple but so effective.
