[Explore] Zeitz MOCAA
Just opened in Cape Town's waterfront Silo District is the incredible Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa (MOCAA). What was once two thirty-three metre high grain silos is now an architectural masterpiece.
With over one hundred galleries, spread over nine floors, permanent and temporary collections; this public not-for-profit contemporary art museum collects, preserves, researches and exhibits twenty-first century art from Africa as well as hosting international exhibitions and supporting development and education.
"Jochen Zeitz was working with curator Mark Coetzee to build a world class collection of contemporary art from Africa and its Diaspora with the vision to create the first major museum dedicated to contemporary art from Africa and its Diaspora on the Africa Continent. The meeting of these two visions resulted in the creation of the not-for-profit public institution since named Zeitz MOCAA."
In addition to exhibiting an extensive art collection the museum's 'Access for All’ program will ensure no one is ever turned away from visiting the museum due to the inability to afford admission.
